The weight of guilt
The weight of guilt is tangible as proclaimed by anyone whose felt it, even if the real or perceived crime may not be.
According to psychological research, there are 5 different forms of Guilt:
1. Guilt for something you did.
2. Guilt for something you didn’t do, but want to.
3. Guilt for something you think you did.
4. Guilt that you didn’t do enough to help someone.
5. Guilt that you’re doing better than someone else.
Given the times we live in and with what ever experiences we have as individuals in those times, it’s important to bring to light thought provoking works by local artists that can get a conversation going: Who do we believe we are and in what context do we fit into our surroundings? Is my guilt the same as another’s? How can we channel our energy of such a debilitating emotion into something positive and ground-breaking?
